Pediatric Injuries

Pediatric injuries refer to injuries occurring in children. If you have a child that has suffered an injury that’s causing acute or chronic pain, we would love to help them at our office. It’s important that children seek assistance right away – their bodies are growing at an exponential rate and we advise parents and caretakers to take the preventative approach rather than the “wait-and-see” approach. Set-in injuries may cause larger problems for the child down the road, so it’s better to be proactive in the child’s health care.

Common Pediatric Injury Causes

Children become injured for a variety of reasons. They are active, energetic and are often unaware of the dangers that may cause an injury. Some of the most common causes of pediatric injuries that we see at our office include:

  • Falls and trips
  • Sports-related injuries, such as sprains and strains
  • Motor vehicle accidents

Common Pediatric Injury Symptoms

Often times, a child may not know or recognize that they are injured. If you notice your child has one or more of the following symptoms, visit a doctor to have an examination.

  • Limping
  • Soreness
  • Tenderness
  • Swelling
  • Increased pain during physical activity
  • Difficulty sleeping
